Valentine, oh Valentine
In the lunchtime, we sit in the sun with
green tea, this February 14, 2021. and..
we think of…. February 14, 1951. Kiss.
We, Iris and I were engaged in the milk
bar Tokki in The Hague only ..70 yrs ago.
She went to Canada. I did army draft duty.
Iris came back to Holland to see what was
left of me after 2 1/4 in the army. A good
2 year pauze. Then we flew to Canada.
On February 14, people all around smiled
looking very happy. How did they know
that we were engaged that regular day?
They explained. It is Valentine Day, you
know….? No, we didn’t. St Valentine is
not celebrated in Holland. Yes, it’s GREAT.
