ABOUT

It all started in Holland, 1932
What happened after that, well, that’s quite a journey.
Dutch born Canadian, restauranteur, business owner, father, husband and more…
Let’s start with a little bit about life in Holland. – This picture for instance, is me 80+ years ago at my home in The Hague.
Landed in Peace River, then moved to Ottawa a few years later.
Fast forward to 1969… Wim & Iris open a small business in the Britannia Village called “au gôut artistique”; selling artisan crafts and swimsuits.
With the success of the business it was moved to the heart of Ottawa on Sussex drive.
In 1961 Wim and Iris moved to Canada.

Wim writes a book about Café WIM
In 1980 Wim purchases the small restaurant beside au-gôut-artistique; Café Max, and changes the name to “Café Wim – a-touch-of-Dutch”.
After 20 years and 11 months… Oh, the stories to be told!
Wim writes a book about the Café and starts this blog to write about the Café WIM
